Band 6 - CCC- Wirral Senior Immunotherapy Nurse 37.5 hours - Hours to be worked over 4 days between Monday and Friday. Secondment post to cover maternity leave. The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK's leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire. Our flagship specialist cancer hospital opening in central Liverpool in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site. Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside's district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies. We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service; are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and host the region's Teenage and Young Adult Unit, (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust). Working with leading experts from The University of Liverpool and the Cancer Research UK Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit we strive to stay at the forefront of novel treatments and techniques to deliver more effective and personalised treatments than ever before. Immunotherapy is rapidly changing nursing practice; The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced individual to become part of the Immunotherapy team as the Senior IO Nurse. * The post holder will develop detailed clinical knowledge in this specialist area. * Undertake patient assessment and implement management of IO toxicity within a treatment framework. * Deliver patient care to patients receiving IO under the direction of the Lead IO nurse. * Undertake review of patients receiving treatment in partnership with the on treatment review team. * Liaise with oncology site specific teams including clinical nurse specialists/ advanced nurse practitioners and consultants. * This will be an evolving role under the direct support of the lead IO nurse and will ultimately include an education role and increasing independence in line with increasing clinical experience. Extensive experience of working in the oncology environment is essential as well as experience of delivering Systemic anti-cancer treatment. Evidence of continuing professional development including a teaching and assessing qualification is desirable; the applicant must also have a relevant degree or be working towards.
