Job Category Underwriting Target Openings 1 Job Description Summary We are looking for a Portfolio Manager with experience in monitoring and managing a trade segment across multiple lines of business. In this role you will identify market opportunity, the trade segment requirements and associated policy covers and ensure growth in identified segments. You will also ensure the product strategies are in place, executed and regularly reviewed and that product plans are distributed, and performance and results are monitored, reviewed and reported upon as required. The following key activities form a core part of your role; + Manage the strategic function of assigned products, supporting the overall profitability, growth and retention of the product line and consistency of all related underwriting initiatives. + Ensure that the product operates in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures and controls (including audit requirements) at all times. + Work collaboratively with business units to determine product line strategy in the business, including research and development of new opportunities in the form of a business plan. + Recommend underwriting policies and standards which support the development of assigned products and services such as researching and identifying target business, competitor information, industry and economic factors across the business. + Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues in Head Office, Risk Control, Claims, Actuarial, and as needed, any other parts of the organisation. + Prepare the analysis and gather data to support the execution of company underwriting policies and standards. + Work closely with actuarial staff to ensure pricing is supportive of the products and the organisations. + Collect and analyse claims data to determine if claims initiatives are aligned with product line strategy. + Monitor product results (i.e. line profitability analysis, quarterly loss trends, production highlights etc.) and make recommendations for action as necessary. + Prepare findings and analyse data in support of the company's position on the assigned product in response to requests from regulators. + Provide support in the promotion of Travelers products, distribution strategy and philosophy and guidance on the Company's underwriting philosophy, procedures and requirements by building strong partnerships with Brokers and Customers. + Provide leadership, guidance, mentoring and coaching as appropriate in relation to the products. Minimum Qualifications You will have previous experience in a similar strategic focused role as well as excellent collaboration and influencing skills. You must be CII qualified and have significant experience of Property and Casualty Insurance. ACII is preferred but not essential.
