Job Purpose We are currently looking for a market reporter to cover the EMEA steel markets. The role includes international travel to industry conferences. This is an excellent opportunity to forge your career covering the economically and politically influential commodities sector. You will apply and develop your skills across daily news and price reporting, market analysis and features in this fast-paced environment with the highest standards of journalistic independence and integrity. Metals is one of the fastest growing sectors at Argus, with a team of specialist market reporters and editors around the world covering steelmaking raw materials, finished steel, scrap and non-ferrous metals. Argus is a highly-regarded provider of information and price references to the steelmaking raw material markets which underpin the global steel industry. You will work with experienced editors in London, supporting the growth of our coverage of markets in the EMEA region. Key responsibilities * Produce daily and weekly price assessments, market commentaries, news and analysis * Forge new contacts in the global steel markets * Attend and cover industry conferences * Support the development of market analysis and other content * Contribute to white papers, webinars and blogs Skills and Experience * A graduate with a strong degree * Proven interest in developing a career in business journalism * Knowledge of the metals and commodity sectors useful but not essential * Excellent writing, grammar and numeracy skills (these will be tested as part of the interview process) * Ability to use data in generating stories and analysis is preferred, while a willingness to learn is essential * Excellent communication skills with ability to network and build contacts with industry executives * Prior experience of working in the financial or energy journalism sector is useful but not essential * Strong co-ordination and time management skills with the ability to work well within a team * Additional languages useful but not essential Attributes * Demonstrable interest in global business, markets and politics * Self motivated, able to use initiative and equipped with an inquisitive nature * Credible individual with the confidence to build relationships across the metal markets About Argus Media Argus is an independent media organisation with over 1,000 staff.
