Senior Support Workers - Learning Disabilities

MacIntyre ,
Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire

Overview

Job Description

Are you ready for the next stage of your career? Could you lead a team whilst supporting people with learning disabilities? We are looking for Senior Support Workers for two of our services in Milton Keynes. You will play a key part in leading the team of support workers at your service. Together, you will assist the people we support to live as independently as possible. You will join in with their favourite pastimes and hobbies, helping them to be active members of their local community, and promoting independence whilst recognising and reacting to changing health needs for the people in these services. As a senior, you will develop rotas, supervise staff, become involved in the recruitment, selection and induction of new staff, and deputise for the frontline manager, generally ensuring a high standard of practice in the service. You will work closely with the staff team, leading by example to ensure the people we support are living a life that makes sense to them. You'll encourage your team and identify training needs, whether that's formally or by way of day-to-day coaching and reflection. Because of the complexity of their learning disabilities, some people we support need help with intimate care or medication, and can display some emotional and physical behaviours of concern. We will provide you with full specialist training for this, as well as offer day-to-day help and advice from your manager and other senior practitioners. You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including early and late shifts, weekends, public holidays and sleep-ins. An example of core shifts are: (early) 07:30 - 15:00 and (late) 14:30 - 22:00, but shift times can be flexible to suit needs and activities of the people at the service.
