About the IT infrastructure team The IT Infrastructure team at Mako is tasked with building and operating the complex technology foundation upon which the firm's operations are built. In our team, world-class engineers and technicians work together to build a highly-reliable low-latency platform to enable the firm's business. About the role We are currently seeking an IT Infrastructure Administrator who is innovative, collaborative, and driven, to join our multi-disciplined team. This role will handle multiple aspects of administration, deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting in our global environment. There will be an opportunity to learn about all aspects of Mako's technology footprint, as well as the business, and to grow your skills and knowledge in both breadth and depth. * You will be installing workstations, servers, telephony systems and all associated peripheral devices * You will be diagnosing and solving faults in both hardware and software * You will perform system builds and upgrades * You will be supporting core trading and business software deployed on Linux About you * You love problem solving and have a can-do attitude to see issues through to resolution * You have a passion for learning the details and minutiae of systems engineering in a multi-vendor environment * You have an open-minded and innovative approach and can show initiative * You thrive in a high pressure environment and can easily adapt to changing business needs * You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely * You excel when empowered to deliver results Essential requirements * Able to learn new skills and technologies quickly * 2+ years' experience working with Windows * Experience building PC's and workstations * Experience troubleshooting issues Desirable requirements * Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc. * Knowledge of Linux operating systems * Hands on experience working in datacentre facilities Additional Information * Hours - Shift hours as required. Coverage is provided between 06:30 and 19:00 via three shifts. Due to the nature of the business, defined Public Holiday work will also be required. Hours for work subject to change dependent on traded markets. Out-of-hour's work is required for system maintenance (including occasional weekend work). * UK Right-to-work - Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK. * Travel - Working in Mako's IT Infrastructure team will afford you the opportunity to travel to our offices and datacentres across the UK, Europe, the Americas, Australia, and Asia.
