Job Description
The Medical Liaison Manager is committed to contribute to the enrichment and execution of the medical strategy as approved by the local country medical organization in concordance with the global medical strategy.The MLM has two main roles The field-based component for the MLM is to be the medical and scientific face of Biogen in the field. The MLM will provide field based medical/scientific support around Biogen's disease area and products as deemed appropriate within the regulatory framework. The MLM is integral to building valued constructive partnerships with key stakeholders within the medical community and healthcare system. The MLM will contribute to company success through both internal and external medical education and medical/scientific information exchange. A key component of the role is for the MLM to gather insights to support the Biogen strategy and to support activities related to research/data generation activities. In this role, she/he should respect the completeness and transparency of data according, to Biogen's compliance and ethics (ie Fair and balanced data presentation). The second role is to proactively contribute, enrich and execute the medical strategy in collaboration with her/his management. This aspect of the role develops medical scientific presentations for face-to-face scientific meetings and symposia during congresses, engage in discussions with scientific and medical experts, to gather insights through interactions and advisory boards, identify opportunities to generate clinical or fundamental scientific projects to address identified unmet needs and inform clinical care practice knowledge that will benefit patients in relevant therapeutic areas. The MLM will consistently demonstrate exceptional technical / scientific depth on Biogen products and disease areas as evidence by internal responsibilities and external reputation and networks. A strong and recognised ability to collaborate cross-functionally (within the affiliate including with Value & Access, Commercial Communication, Policy, Patient Advocacy, Marketing/Commercial teams and at the Regional/Global Medical Level). Effective capability of excellence in execution and clinical and scientific expertise are critical competencies for this role. A specific aspect in this role is to ensure operational excellence in the execution of the medical plan. MLM key responsibilities: Maintain integrity and compliance in all aspects of work Delivery and execution of medical plan Ensure aligned medical scientific communication to external stakeholders via 1:1 interactions and group presentations Develop, initiate and execute Ad board strategy Understand the overall health care environment and be an expert in empathising with clinical practice/science in its assigned disease area. Capture systematic and structured medical insights through scientific exchange for consolidation at the regional medical level Coordinate Sponsored research agreements/Investigator initiated trials in the assigned geographic area Build and deliver a strong Thought leader scientific collaboration/engagement plan Plan and execute affiliate specific medical educational activities, scientific meetings and symposia Generate and adapt medical material for relevant external engagement Participate in and contribute to internal training initiatives / activities within the therapeutic area Adapt locally the medical strategy and tactics' plan Accomplishment of all above goals must comply with the terms and conditions outlined in Biogen Code of Business Conduct. At least 2 years' experience in either/ both medical affairs / medical field role in industry. A hunger for scientific knowledge. Ability to support and set up an annual medical action plan, in line with the medical strategy, integrating regular cross-functional coordination with the other departments within Biogen Ability to work effectively within a team and in the various projects in which it will be involved. Ability to manage time and priorities: multi-project management integrating regulatory and compliance requirements, timeliness and commitments Capacity for critical analysis and synthesis: implementation of an action plan, drafting of summaries on scientific events to different audiences, ability to synthesise and articulate complex scientific data, reports, notes bot
