Overview
Job Description
The post holder will provide an accessible, person centred effective school nursing service for vulnerable school aged children who have been identified as being at risk and requiring additional support. This will be achieved by working in partnership with children, young people, families, carers and partner agencies. A continuous focus on prevention, early intervention and support will prevail and concentrate on the ten priority areas under overarching themes of vulnerable children and families, mental health and wellbeing, and risk taking behaviours. The post holder will be responsible for a caseload and function as an autonomous practitioner by virtue of in-depth knowledge, expertise, experience and proficiency. Applying candidates should be a registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration, be educated to/working towards or operating at Degree Level. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification as well as both a comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice and specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions appropriate to areas of responsibility. The successful candidate should display the ability to communicate and engage effectively with looked after children, ensuring that they have the opportunity to participate in decisions affecting them as appropriate to their age and ability and demonstrate an awareness of national policy and legislation relating to children and young people. This post requires the successful candidate to be confident in their problem solving skills and their leadership and management skills to enable the day to day management of a caseload and service delivery. Candidate should also be proficient in their IT skills - word processing/email/internet, excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills and effective time management skills.
