Job Description
I Help to Make a Difference A challenging yet rewarding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Substance Misuse Nurse Prescriber to work within our Integrated Substance Misuse Service (ISMS) at HMP YOI Exeter. This is a Category B local, resettlement male prison, located in Exeter. What Will You Be Doing? You will work, as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support patients in HMP Exeter in their recovery from Drugs and Alcohol. You will prescribe for a caseload of patients, supporting their personal recovery plan. You will act as a point of contact for the wider ISMS and Healthcare teams, providing advice and information in relation to clinical interventions for substance users. You will also be expected to practice as a Non-Medical Prescriber, running regular clinics to initiate prescribing of and/or make amendments to prescriptions for opiate and/or alcohol substitute treatments and other related medications. You may also be asked to support group work sessions. What We Need From You... You will hold a RCGP 1 and NMC Qualification and Prescribing medical/ non-medical with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You'll have a flexible approach, working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service. You will promote an agenda of recovery from the dependence on drugs and/or alcohol within the client group and which supports the goals of reducing re-offending, increasing reintegration into meaningful and sustained occupation and improving social and family relationships. You must have an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person centred approach. You will also understand and promote harm reduction techniques and be able to use your sound BBV knowledge to contribute to Care UK's ambition to eradicate Hep C from Prisons. This is a full-time vacancy, working 37.5 hours per week. Working pattern negotiable. Salary is up to 42,000 FTE per annum - dependent on experience.
