Job Description

Community Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry " Kintyre and Islay Sector Mid Argyll Hospital, Lochgilphead Part-Time " 8 PA's per week £82,669 to £109,849 per annum (2019/20) This post is included in the major redesign of service that focuses on the development of the community mental health teams throughout Argyll and Bute. The post covers the Kintyre and Islay sector of Argyll and Bute with access to inpatient beds at the Mid Argyll Hospital, Lochgilphead, thereby offering local care for inpatient and outpatient management. The post offers an opportunity to work with a small group of committed clinicians who deliver an excellent standard of care throughout the sector. The post is for 8 programmed activities per week, one of which will be LD. The post holder will be welcomed into a friendly and forward thinking team of consultants where peer support is valued and protected. Development of a special interest will be encouraged. The base will be Campbeltown with regular travel to the island of Islay monthly. On call is one in eight at Succoth ward - a brand new facility of 21 beds situated within the Mid Argyll Community hospital in Lochgilphead. Applicants must be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register with a Licence to Practice or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at time of interview. Argyll and Bute offers an excellent quality of life with particularly good facilities for leisure and recreation but still within easy commuting distance of the central belt and Glasgow airport. Quality housing can be bought or rented and the local schools are of a good standard. NHS Highland operates a leased car scheme. There are excellent facilities for activities such as golf, hill walking, fishing, sailing and water sports. There are clubs for sports such as rugby, football (indoor and outdoor), athletics, netball, rowing and sailing. The area boasts some of the finest scenery in the country.
