Job Description
We are looking for a part-time Data Science coach or mentor, available to provide remote and in-person support to our learners. You will be part of our mission of helping professionals become more relevant in the technology industry by supporting our range of data science courses. About us Cambridge Spark is a spin-out from the Cambridge Computer Laboratory with a focus on personalised education in the fields of Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. Our clients include some of the most prestigious financial institutions and universities in the UK and internationally. You'll join a team of Computer Science and Data Science researchers, Big Data Engineers and PhDs from the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, Imperial College London and UCL who have experience working at some of the world's most well known tech companies including Google, Oracle, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft and Qualcomm. Cambridge Spark's mission is to transform tech education for professionals with an intelligent tutoring system. Our proprietary system brings together research in software engineering, source code analysis, education pedagogy and machine learning. Cambridge Spark has recently won a government innovation grant to collaborate with Oxford University on recommender systems research applied to education. We're looking for coaches and mentors interested in supporting our data science learners. You should have experience solving data science problems, analysing data and prototyping machine learning models with the Python Data Science stack (Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Numpy, Keras etc.). You will be working one-to-one with our learners and should be good at explaining complex concepts clearly. This role is an opportunity to be recognised as an expert and also expand your professional network. Responsibilities: Cambridge Spark is a leading Data Science training company. You will will be involved with a range of initiatives at Cambridge Spark depending on your interests and availabilities: * Coaching or mentoring to enhance Cambridge Spark's curriculum * Giving feedback to help us develop and improve teaching materials * Providing face to face and remote support to our apprentices to ensure they achieve the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to complete their qualifications * Teaching opportunities include weekend teaching as part of our Applied Data Science Bootcamp or weekday engagement with Cambridge Spark clients. Requirements : * Experience with the Python Data Science and Machine Learning stack (Pandas, Scikit-learn, Numpy, Keras etc.) * Experience with the whole data science cycle (from defining the problem to implementing a solution) * Excellent communication skills Bonus skills: * Previous mentoring or coaching experience * Public speaking experience, for example at conferences or as a teaching assistant Employment Type: Part time contract
