United Kingdom - Avon, Bristol - UK Job Summary We are currently recruiting for a Principal Bridge Engineer to join our busy and expanding Bridges team in our centrally located Bristol office. Our Bristol office has an established track record of successfully delivering major transport schemes. Our modern office in the heart of Bristol is within easy reach of Temple Meads, Harbourside and Cabot Circus and comprises a vibrant and diverse mix of sectors and disciplines including Buildings & Places, Environment, Programme Cost Consulting and a large Transportation team including both Roads, Rail and Bridges disciplines. The team provides design, assessment, inspection, repair / remediation, construction support and management services on a wide range of transport infrastructure projects. Our Bristol bridges office forms part of a Central, South West & Wales region which comprises of over 130 bridge engineers and technicians working seamlessly to deliver a wide range of challenging projects. Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of local, national and international bridges and structures projects in both rail and road including numerous long-term frameworks. A selection of our current and recent projects includes - CORMAC - AECOM is appointed as 'strategic delivery partner' is providing numerous transportation services including bridges to Cornwall County Council on behalf of CORMAC; schemes include bridge replacement, bridge refurbishments and structures remediation. Network Rail Western Works Delivery - AECOM is routinely engaged to undertake remediation works to Network Rail's structural assets and bridge replacement and bridge refurbishment works, Remediation works including, scoping, options and investigation findings reports, strengthening and repairs through F001 to F003. Refurbishment works including numerous metallic half-through rail bridges. Replacement works including various railway bridges. South Gloucestershire Professional Services Framework - AECOM is appointed as a consultant for the PSF Framework undertaking structures examinations, assessments, investigations and remedial works to numerous highways structures. Civils Assessment Framework Agreement (CAFA) - AECOM is appointed across five rail routes for the framework contract. Our Bristol team supports the London North Western route in undertaking Level 1 (grillage) & Level 2 (finite element) assessments of overbridges, footbridges and underbridges to a multitude of structural materials and structure forms. SWTRA (South Wales Trunk Road Agent) - AECOM are engaged to provide engineering support services within the 'Central' section. Recent schemes have included pier impact assessments, strengthening and feasibility studies for the refurbishment of buildings, rehabilitation of half-joints, replacement of expansion joints, Principal Inspections and several others. As a Principal Bridge Engineer, you will have the following daily responsibilities: + Take a leading role in the implementation of health & safety and wellbeing best practice into the delivery of all works. + Act as a technical lead for the delivery of highway or railway end market projects. + Lead, line manage and develop a delivery focused team of Engineers and Technicians. + Act as Supervising Civil Engineer (SCE) to trainees working towards Chartership. + Secure and deliver works to new and existing clients. + Project management of schemes including: client reporting, programming, resource planning and commercial management. Minimum Requirements + Extensive experience with bridge inspection, assessment and design schemes. + Proven project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget. + Extensive experience in road and/or rail projects in the UK. + Previous exposure with clients including: national and local authorities and/or Network Rail and ideally Principal Contractors. + Proven ability to manage staff and project Health and Safety responsibilities including compliance with CDM legislation. + You will have a current clean driving license and be willing to travel throughout the UK to visit sites. + Strong ability in various software packages ideally including LUSAS and MIDAS, with strong experience in Finite Element Analysis preferred. + Strong knowledge and experience of the following: Eurocode, British, Highways England and Network Rail Standards. + Strong experience in delivering bridge design through Highways England and Network Rail standards. Preferred Qualifications + Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Bridge, Civil or Structural Engineering. + Ideally educated to MSc / MEng level or equivalent. + Chartered Engineer with ICE or IStructE.
