About the opportunity: To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are looking to appoint a Principal or Associate Director of Hydraulic Modelling in our Bristol office, one of our UK centres of excellence for modelling and an innovation hub for hydroinformatics. The successful individual will be a proven leader able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of hydraulic modelling across a range of applications and will have the necessary skills to provide technical leadership and mentoring and development of staff. You will have experience in resource management, project delivery, and a drive for technical excellence, and promoting innovation. You will support a variety of studies across flood risk management and reservoir engineering for major infrastructure projects in the UK and potentially overseas. About you: Essential: Extensive proven ability of quality assurance and technical leadership using, but not limited to, industry standard hydraulic modelling packages, such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW and InfoWorks ICM Technical leadership and assurance of fluvial hydraulic modelling in support of major UK infrastructure projects, including but not limited to roads, airports, railways, and building development Applied experience of hydraulic modelling in support of flood risk management and/or flood forecasting systems and processes in the UK Detailed knowledge and experience of the UK regulatory requirements for flood risk management and assessment and the best-practice approaches for flood risk modelling to deliver them Review and audit of hydraulic models and modelling studies, including provision of support to clients in dialogue with regulators Demonstrable knowledge in technical coordination of multi-disciplinary teams Proven ability in writing and reviewing technical reports and adept in conveying key messages in a simple and clear manner from complex technical documentation Excellent presentation skills with experience of presenting to existing and potential clients, to regulators and stakeholders on behalf of clients, at meetings and within working teams Experienced in solution development and support of new tender opportunities, writing proposals and estimating costs, including for new services and offerings Undergraduate Degree in Civil Engineering, Geography or a similar/relevant discipline Desirable: Demonstrable knowledge of coastal and/or wastewater hydraulic modelling in a UK context. Proven ability of hydraulic modelling in overseas locations. Demonstrable knowledge of hydrological analysis using Flood Estimation Handbook methods. Expert Witness experience. Knowledge and practical experience of developing supporting tools for hydraulic modelling or GIS using programming languages such as python. Proven background in leading and winning new tender opportunities, writing proposals and estimating costs, including for new services and offerings Post-graduate Degree in relevant discipline Chartered Why Jacobs?
