2019-33603 - Head of Energy Risk Engineering (AGRC), (London, UK) We're hiring! * * Aon are investing in the continuing growth of the Energy Risk Engineering (ERE) team, a team of specialist engineers supporting large energy, power and chemical companies to manage and transfer risk. The team has a market-leading set of skills, services and products and experience from working with clients across the globe. To support the growth and increasing headcount of the team we are structuring the organisation to allow us to focus on our critical success areas. To do this we are creating the bandwidth to allow our incumbent Head to focus on client partnerships, driving our innovation agenda and harnessing our benchmarking data. Consequently, we are looking to recruit a Head of Energy Risk Engineering who will be responsible for building and maintaining the practice of consulting engineers to manage and deliver profitable assignments including the achievement of the ERE practice budget. The role requires a strong leader, an experienced risk engineer with a good appreciation of broader risk transfer and analytics to advise clients on complex issues and to gain the confidence of clients, insurers and the Aon network. Strong communication skills are essential. About the Role As the Head of ERE responsibilities include: * Managing P & L for the UK based ERE practice within AGRC, including budgets and monthly financial performance * Developing and implementing strategic plans for the continuing growth of the practice, and the protection and enhancement of its reputation * Managing the day to day operation of the team of about 12 risk engineers and one valuer including, assignment scheduling, performance management, compliance, recruitment, training and development * Overseeing all major client proposals and costings and monitor performance of all major client contracts * Overseeing the maintenance and development of the technical procedures and standards used by the ERE team globally * Launching new products and services * Overseeing the annual business development plans for the practice * Taking an active role at major client review meetings * Developing and maintaining contacts throughout the Aon network offices dealing with Energy and Power * Supporting the Energy and Power practices in London and Aon network offices in new business pitches or defensive tenders * Carrying out 3- 4 surveys a year to keep abreast of industry developments and to contributing chargeable revenue * Developing and maintaining relationships with all leading Energy market engineers and underwriters * Supporting other AGRC multi practice initiatives and projects * Leading the global ERE practice in terms of setting technical standards * Facilitating an effective global network of ERE engineers to ensure the best of Aon is delivered to clients worldwide About you Your skills and qualifications will ideally include: * Background in a broker, consultancy or insurance company with a focus on risk engineering * Respected in the international Energy insurance market * Excellent technical knowledge of the core practice disciplines of risk engineering * Additional experience in areas such as supply chain, cyber and security risk would be desirable * Commerciality and an ability to identify opportunities and structure appropriate commercial responses * Possess excellent interpersonal and presentation skills * Personal and business leadership experience * Likely to be educated to degree level or equivalent with relevant professional qualifications and proven related experience Salary and Benefits This role offers a competitive salary and bonus, plus a comprehensive benefits package and 25 days holiday.
