Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Procurement to join The Salvation Army. The Salvation Army has established a highly professional successful Procurement Unit over the last five years which has revolutionised the way the movement thinks about and does procurement. Our first inhouse Head of Procurement has delivered the savings target set by the board together with ethical, process and e-procurement objectives and leaves an excellent professional team and a solid foundation on which you will build as you take procurement forwards. We are looking to recruit a highly capable procurement professional, who can think and operate at the strategic level, to become our Head of Procurement. This new role provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and positive individual to join The Salvation Army and lead the next stage of building its procurement function, working with a committed and motivated team. Educated to degree level and a member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, you will have a real passion for procurement and understand the benefits that is can bring to organisational outcomes. With experience of leading, developing and implementing a procurement function within a large and complex organisation you have excellent communications skills and experience of writing and presenting at board level. This is a permanent position based at our Headquarters currently at 101 Newington Causeway, London SE1 6BN. In December 2021 to early 2022 we will be moving to our new, modern headquarters at Denmark Hill, London, SE5 8BQ.
