We'd love to hear from you. Legal at Tessian We're looking for a Head of Legal & Compliance to join us at Tessian! Legal at Tessian is fundamental to our growth, and to our value to Do The Right Thing. Tessian is at an exciting stage in our journey & this role will involve a varied and interesting workload, including commercial negotiations, IP, working with the engineering team on new features, data protection, maintaining our cap table, & advising on employment and general commercial law matters. This role will also gradually take over Data Protection Officer duties. As our Head of Legal & Compliance, you'll be critical to enabling our teams, from Product to Sales. You'll be a creative thinker that will build scalable processes, and find opportunities to pre-empt and overcome frictions.You'll report to our CFO, and will act as one of our functional heads sitting within our Operations team. Every day is different in Legal! You'll be a motivated and detail oriented individual, ready and willing to get involved in all areas of the business and its ever changing projects. You'll be excited to be our sole Legal adviser until we embark on our next significant stage of growth, and you'll have a mind for streamlining & scale to keep company operations running smoothly. As a commercially minded, diligent individual, you'll have a great opportunity to help shape Legal and Compliance at Tessian, particularly with the new and exciting challenges we have ahead. As our Head of Legal & Compliance, you'll get to: * Define our legal strategy * Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of agreements, contracts and other legal documentation (including - but by no means limited to - commercial contracts, non-disclosure agreements, & marketing agreements), with a view to commerciality & scale * Respond to legal requests from all areas of the business * Communicate and advise on legal concepts * Develop in house standard templates and policies * Create streamlined legal processes * Work closely and advising internal stakeholders on risk-related matters * Liaise with external counsel, where applicable, on projects from fundraising to IP to employment law * Become our Data Protection Officer & handle internal data protection queries & requests We'd love to meet someone who: * Has significant post qualification experience, a passion for legal functions in-house * Has a specific interest in technology &/ startups (enterprise SaaS is a plus!) * Is passionate about enabling teams * Embodies our values and is excited to work the Tessian way * Has excellent attention to detail... * ...but loves breaking down bureaucratic frictions * Is comfortable working autonomously in a fast paced environment * Loves the idea of being our Legal island in our Operations archipelago * Possesses very strong organisational skills, is proactive, inquisitive & creative * Ideally has some experience with Intellectual Property experience and Data Protection - if you do, please do tell us about this in the 'Additional Information' section Why we think you'll love it here * It's important to us that all Tessians are part of the journey we're on, so we offer equity options with every role and benchmark to provide above market rate salaries - there's plenty more too....
