Digital Acquisition Manager Reports To: Head of Marketing & Communications dmg media is the consumer media division of DMGT plc with a portfolio of print and digital businesses across in the UK. For the financial year ended September 2013 dmg media reported turnover of 793m and delivered operating profits of 80m, 4% up on 2012. dmg media operates the highly profitable print businesses within DMGT including the Daily Mail, The Mail on Sunday and Metro as well as newspaper titles across India and Middle East, with a primary objective to be the best newspaper company in the UK. In addition, dmg media has built a market leading portfolio of online businesses across the UK and internationally including: MailOnline, Mail Plus, Metro and Zoopla. A new Marketing Communications team is being formed from both new and existing team members, to give a centralised marketing function through which we can orchestrate digital and offline communications across all the direct to consumer businesses of Mail Newspapers. The Marketing team will be comprised of digital acquisition marketing, campaign planning and brand communications, in-house creative and customer retention, all underpinned by data and analytics. A single customer plan will coordinate our activities as we look to first engage prospects, before conversion to purchase or subscription, with equal focus on retaining customers and driving lifetime value through marketing communications which remain of relevance through their entire journey with our brand. dmg media's direct to consumer business currently operates the MyMail website, the home of the Mail Rewards loyalty scheme & ecommerce businesses through Mail Travel, Mail Shop, Mail Finance & YOU Beauty Discovery. In addition to supporting these propositions, the Marketing Communications team also deliver communications to support circulation through Promotions and the development of our digital rendition of the newspaper, Mail Plus. The Role - At a glance Working with the Head of Marketing to: Ensure the Mail customer is put at the heart of all marketing decisions and effort Act as Brand Guardian for the Mail in its consistent execution across all communications As in-house digital marketing expert, develop and deliver an orchestrated calendar of digital marketing activity (SEM, Display, Social, PR & Affiliate) which fits into the single Customer Plan that aligns all customer communication across all channels and verticals, optimising new, differentiated and seasonal opportunities Overall responsibility for all digital acquisition channels (PPC, SEO, Affiliates, Online PR, Display, Social media (including ads) & online PR). Work with the Brand Communications Manager & Customer Retention Manager to ensure consistency and relevancy of message to maximise brand awareness, preference and engagement, conversion and lifetime customer value, ultimately driving profitable sales Understand and proactively plan the best use of online media space (owned and paid for) in support of the Mail Newspapers direct to consumer portfolio, managing any related Agency relationships Build relationships with the editorial teams of the brands to secure approval of activity Be responsible for the ROI of digital marketing campaigns, completing the analysis of sales and profit performance Ensure metrics in place to track, analyse, optimise, report and recommend on all digital marketing communications Ensure all plans are adequately communicated to internal stakeholders (Customer Service, other marketing functions, Editorial as necessary) The role requires strategic thinking, commercial acumen & an ability to operate across a variety of differing verticals. Excellent communication skills and a proven track record of collaborative working and team management & development are essential Required Skills Proven track record in delivering online marketing communications fulfilment and ROI evaluation, with a minimum 7 years' marketing experience. A positive, flexible self-starter who works well in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, team oriented environment This is a hands on role, which requires in depth experience of PPC, SEO & social media strategies. Experience in managing multi-channel marketing campaigns Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with attention to detail Confidence - in a numerate, results-based organisation Proven skills in implementing a customer-lead strategy Experience of consumer-facing business Attention to detail but with the ability to make decisions on 'best available' data Able to form, motivate and manage a team with a variety of skills Ability to manage stakeholders at all levels - good oral, written and presentation skills with the ability to present and communicate issues and opinions Retail, subscription of publishing experience useful but not essential Management experience; 4 direct reports (not all recruited) Personal Qualities Effective influencing skills and the ability to work with all levels of people Appr
