Job Description
Your new role An exciting opportunity has arisen to help develop the digitalisation, including machine readability, of the technical standards (the DMRB and MCHW) that are used to design, construct, maintain and operate main roads across the United Kingdom. As a Senior Advisor you will be engaged in projects to connect the design and construction standards to design software, the departure applications system, digital product catalogues and digital compliance checking systems. You will be responsible for developing and implementing policies, standards, operating procedures and best practices. You will draw on your previous knowledge and experience to provide specialist advice and guidance regarding the development, management and digitalisation of standards as well as managing projects delivered by suppliers to help develop and deliver these changes. This role will involve a degree of travel across England. What you'll be leading on * The digitalisation of the DMRB and MCHW including linkages to design software, the departure application system, digital product catalogues, BIM and digital compliance checking software * Development of technical governance for the development and publication of updates to the DMRB and MCHW. * Plan and manage project activities and resources, including external expert and consultancy support as appropriate, identifying risks and appropriate mitigation and reporting progress, to ensure delivery of project objectives to time and cost. * Engage with stakeholders across Highways England and externally to understand their business needs, to identify key areas for improvement and to share best practice * Communicate changes to the development and publication of the DMRB and MCHW (including the move to digital distribution of machine readable clauses) to all stakeholders to support successful implementation To be successful you will have : * A broad experience of highways management or related infrastructure management * Proven experience of developing and delivering change ideally related to technical standards * Proven experience of providing information and specialist advice in a specific technical or expertise discipline. * Evidence of managing internal and external stakeholder relationships. * Proven experience of developing solutions and providing specialist advice. * Ability to demonstrate efficiencies and demonstrate value for money across a programme of projects. A bit about us The Safety, Engineering and Standards team's key priorities are to support world class operational delivery and technical advice for our road network, provide support services to lead, enable and innovate in the development of the Strategic Road Network and provide expert advice on matters relating to health and safety. The Technical Assurance and Governance Group are responsible for the management of UK Technical Standards for roads. Senior Advisors are key members of a team improving services to improve the development and delivery of these standards. Want to know more?
