We're looking for talented people who share our passion for data to join our team and seize these opportunities with us. www.datais.energy Position purpose We rely on data scientists to run a wide range of machine learning methods monitoring for efficacy and degradation, continually improving our forecasting and relationship discovery. Data scientists are critical to the success of EDF trading and take up roles in various commercial functions, ranging from data analytics, market analysis, risk management, quantitative research, pricing, structuring and trading. As a Data Scientist you will be responsible for ensuring the conversion of clean, ordered data into actionable analytics to drive decision making. All about you You have the skills and ability to: * Organise and analyse large amounts of data * Determine correct data sets and variables * Collect structured and unstructured data sets * Use algorithms to mine targeted data You are also: * Able to work under pressure with front office users * Highly motivated to complete projects and 'go the extra mile' to achieve positive outcomes for the business. * Able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with all levels and disciplines * Have a graduate qualification in an analytical or science-based discipline e.g. engineering/maths/computer science or equivalent Your technical skills and experience Ideally you would be proficient in a good selection of the following: * Algorithmic complexity theory * Numerical stability * Parallelism & Concurrency * Testability * Object oriented design * Interface driven design * Low latency architectures * Numerical, statistical and machine learning techniques. * Distributed systems. * Real time Big data Visualisation * High proficiency in at least one statically typed, compiled programming language, C, C++, Java C# etc. * High proficiency in programming in Python and other related scripting languages * Experience with messaging and or data streaming technologies such as Kafka, ActiveMQ, Azure Service Bus, and Azure Event Hubs. * Experience of hybrid and/or cloud distributed architectures that utilise Hadoo
