About the role The Strategy Manager will work across all areas of UK, US and Corporate Strategy, based in either central London or Warwick. This will be an important leadership position within the Strategy team and a crucial role for both developing National Grid's strategic choices and driving change through National Grid's businesses. Your primary accountability will be to drive the thinking and output of the Group Strategy team. This will involve applying strategic frameworks and concepts to solve complex business problems, developing and applying market insights to improve business planning, developing business cases supported by robust financial analysis, leading qualitative & quantitative research to support decision making, managing the project execution of major business initiatives, assessing and developing strategic policy positions, understanding competitor moves, and developing board & executive level communications. This role has multiple stakeholders, and success will require significant facilitation and coordination skills as well as the intellectual and strategic ability to challenge established thinking and lead discussions where necessary. Your voice will be an important one in these debates and your ability to influence and take senior stakeholders with you will be crucial to your success. You will take on a "coaching role" to share your skills and experience with the team and others beyond the immediate team. Within the Group & UK/EU Strategy team you will enjoy exceptional exposure to the National Grid Plc Executive, Business Unit Executive Teams, and senior leadership teams, working on the highest priority issues. About you * Significant experience in corporate strategy development and execution in large and complex corporate environments with a proven ability to apply a broad set of strategic frameworks to solve real business issues. This could be gained either through experience as a consultant or through in-house strategy teams. * Strategic ability should be balanced by a strong understanding of the operational and commercial challenges faced by a business and the factors which can derail the successful implementation of a strategy. * Experience of working with and influencing executive level/ senior leaders within an organisation, together with a proven ability to engage effectively at multiple levels across an organisation. * Strong analytical skills are essential, as well as familiarity with forecasting techniques and financial analysis. * Experience in leading & delivering high-profile projects. * Comfortable working in a matrix organisation with multiple stakeholders and to facilitate cross functional teams to operate collaboratively and innovatively. * Strong communicator with the ability to convey complex strategic ideas and proposals to a wide range of audiences in both written and verbal mediums. * Broad understanding of the energy sector and regulatory issues affecting the industry and long term internal/external influences. Energy sector experience is strongly preferred. * Educated to degree level or equivalent. MBA (or similar) preferred. What you'll get A competitive salary between 80,000 - 90,000 - dependent on capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a company car or allowance, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
