Job Description

Purpose As a Manager in Strategic Sourcing you will be responsible for ensuring that the firm derives the maximum value at the best price from its Knowledge & Learning supplier contracts including Lexis Nexis, Thomson Reuter. You will be responsible for also identifying and delivering annual savings opportunities, as well as managing the day to day Information Procurement function. You will also ensure that supplier related risks are identified promptly and risk managed accordingly. This will be achieved by: * ensuring that new suppliers are onboarded via a rigorous supplier selection and onboarding process; * contracts are negotiated in accordance with Linklaters required terms, and pricing is aggressively managed. * supplier costs are regularly reviewed and managed / renegotiated * comparisons with the market place are undertaken where possible, and savings delivered Whilst particular focus will be on the K&L function, broader support to Business Teams and the practice will also be provided as necessary. Key Dimensions The role includes providing sourcing leadership and expertise to the K&L functions, and requires regular engagement with senior stakeholders upto Associate Director and Director level. The role will have direct management responsibility of the Information Procurement function based in Warsaw. The role will also provide more general support to the Head of Strategic Sourcing. The role additionally requires strong supplier market knowledge and expertise of the procurement of legal content / online subscriptions on behald of Information Resource, combined with the sourcing and management of suppliers for Learning & Development related services. The role requires sourcing, supplier management and contract negotiation expertise. The scope of the role is primarily GHO / UK but does also extend to all our international offices when required - particularly in support of Information & Research and Learning & Development. Key responsibilities and challenges 1. Rigorous supplier selection The role requires that all new suppliers to be onboarded by K&L will be subjected by the team, or designated individuals, to a rigorous supplier selection process that is commensurate with the risk / cost of the service to be supplied. It will be the responsibility of this role to ensure the team are appropriately skilled to undertake these tasks.The required result is a fully documented process detailing how new suppliers have been selected and onboarded. 2. Price and contract negotiation and ongoing supplier cost review of the K&L and HR Business Team costs The role requires that all new and existing suppliers to K&L are subject to strong price negotiation and that ongoing supplier costs will be reviewed to ensure they are being contained. Contracts are to be negotiated by team members to ensure compliance with the firm's policies and obligations. It will be the responsibility of this role to ensure the team are appropriately skilled and supported to undertake these tasks. The required result will be fully compliant contracts with well negotiated pricing backed up by ongoing reviews of supplier spend and proposed price increases. 3. Robust Supplier Risk Management processes in place The role requires that all K&L suppliers will be tiered according to the risk their service presents to Linklaters. All Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers will be subjected to the firms supplier management governance and process. The role will ensure that suppliers are audited on a regular basis and that any issues are raised with the Risk team. 4. Efficient procurement of Information Resource content The role requires that all new purchases of information resource content will be processed in a timely and efficient process and that the "inbox" of invoice requests / disputes is managed effectively. 5 Management of team The role will be responsible for the management of the team ofone team member. This will include all staff development requirements, setting and monitoring of objectives and ongoing daily management of allocated tasks.
