Job Description

1. Purpose To assist the Underwriters and Senior Underwriters to profitably underwrite in respect of the allocated accounts in line with the business plan to produce an acceptable return to capital providers in accordance with the Divisional business plan. To provide technical and administrative support to the Senior Underwriters, in the provision of statistical analysis, research and reporting on business activity. In addition, project co-ordination responsibilities to aid the Senior Underwriter in writing a profitable book of business to include production of relevant reports to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements 2. Dimensions No people management/budget responsibilities Premium Income as per SBU Business Plan 3. Key Result Areas . Operational: To assist with underwriting and servicing the allocated accounts in accordance with the Divisional business plan dealing with queries as appropriate. To liaise with the Claims Department as required. To record all underwriting entries into the relevant systems to ensure risk information is captured within the predetermined targets. Compliance: To act in accordance at all times with the Company's Business Ethics Policy. To be satisfied that their activities comply with all relevant Company, FSA, Lloyds regulatory and legal requirements with particular reference to the Competition Policy, Anti-Money Laundering and Health and Safety policies. To assist with monitoring and confirmation of regulatory and legal compliance for the Division (or reporting breaches and issues) in accordance with the Company's procedures. To ensure all underwriting is carried out in accordance with underwriting guides and underwriting procedures, adhering to internal policy standards and time constraints i.e. Risk reviews. To assist with audits of brokers to ensure compliance with terms of trade and internal requirements. Management Information: To contribute to the development of the account to achieve the annual individual class and five year business plans. To produce, review and analyse monthly and quarterly figures producing accurate reports on findings. Generation and maintenance of reports as required by the Senior Underwriter. To assist in the production of market and client research, database maintenance and awareness of competitor activity. Monitoring: To review all risks, quotes, endorsements and declarations of own work load and act as peer reviewer on all risks and material endorsements underwritten as necessary. To check renewals and new business processing. Customer Relations: To build and maintain client and broker relationships. To contribute as directed to the development of new brokers, clients and market relationships to ensure new business opportunities are considered as part of the business planning process. Personnel: To ensure own development in areas of technical and non-technical competency and maintain an awareness of other classes of business and the underwriting strategy of the Division. Project Work: As directed, to provide project co-ordination, research and support to Senior Underwriter working on individual mini projects of a various nature, tracking and ensuring completion, reporting on progress as required. AD Hoc Duties. To provide support to other members of the team as and when required and any additional duties as required to meet the needs of the Division. 4.
