Overview

Job Description

Senior Platform Engineer - Google Cloud In this role you'll be recognised as an industry leader in Cloud Computing. You'll gain exposure to cutting edge technologies, placing yourself at the forefront of a field that's constantly evolving. Each customer you work with will have a specific set of requirements, so you'll face new challenges all the time. A 'one size fits all' approach isn't a viable option - you'll need to design unique solutions for each project. You can be sure that no two days will be the same. You'll join a team of experienced Platform Engineers who are always happy to share their knowledge and to be a sounding board for new ideas. You'll get the flexibility to balance your work life with your personal interests and commitments. You won't be restricted to an annual holiday quota, you'll be trusted to manage your holidays responsibly. Your focus will be on the delivery of your work, rather than when or where you do it. You can decide when you start and finish your working days, and you can choose to work from home once or twice a week. What you'll do: You'll meet with customers at the early sales stage to understand their technical requirements. You'll take a project from the discovery stage, through initial concept and design and through to implementation, build and support. You'll support Professional Services engagements as a technical resource to assist customers and sales engineers with technical design decisions. We're a Google Cloud practice, so you'll become a specialist in Google Cloud technologies and services, but you'll also become proficient in a wide range of associated open source tooling. You might not see your colleagues every day (if they're working from home or visiting a client), but you'll share ideas and advice on the daily standup. You'll get to work from home too, but the Manchester office would be your base location. You'll be supported through a variety of technical certifications. If you are already certified in GCP, AWS, or Kubernetes then you are off to a great start, as these are really relevant for the tech stack you'll work with. What you'll need: * You'll have hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP, AWS, Azure) and the ability to write tooling in at least one programming language. * You'll have used Terraform in previous roles, and will understand deployment methodologies associated with it. You'll also have experience of using Kubernetes. * You'll have used containerisation technologies, various Configuration Management tools, and will have an in- depth knowledge of the Linux operating system. What you'll get: You'll get a high spec laptop, private health insurance and company contributed pensions as standard. You'll be invited to the annual international company 'kick off' conference, which is a great chance to meet your colleagues that you don't see everyday. So what's next?
