Job Description

ERM is a global environmental consultancy, with offices in 151 locations around the world. We require an Infrastructure Architect to join a multi-disciplined growing Architecture Team in the early phases of an ambitious digital transformation journey. As an Infrastructure Architect you will be responsible for owning the design of new solutions and/or the re-architecture of existing solutions. You will play a key role on various projects and programmes and develop appropriate end-to-end solution architectures to agreed standards, ensuring compliance with higher level architectures, constraints, software, data and business architectures as needed. The infrastructure Architect will bridge the gap between the technical and business teams, expertly defining, validating and delivering solutions which align to the technical vision, and are supportable. Working on a number of projects, the Infrastructure Architect will act as the technical design authority and have oversight of the project throughout the delivery life cycle, including handover to operations. * Technical accountability and leadership of the project team responsible for the detailed design, development, delivery and test of complex solutions working alongside the Programme Manager providing assurance and governance for technical components of the solution. * Lead on Infrastructure projects and programmes and give guidance to the wider team on infrastructure elements within other projects and programmes * Able to write statements of work and articulate technical deliverables when working with third parties and ERM's partners * Low level discovery and documentation of existing solution components and owner of the transition from existing to proposed solution * Owner of high-level design documentation and working with a business analyst to document requirements into detailed technical deliverables, identifying the risks, assumptions, Issues and dependencies * Technical risk/issue ownership and management/resolution during solution delivery. * Able to produce high quality technical documentation for submission to the design approval board * A hands-on team player, with a can-do approach * Good stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage your time effectively across multiple projects Core competencies, knowledge and experience: * Highly effective technical planning across, internal and 3rd Party technical teams * Builds influential and effective relationships with technical, service and delivery teams * Effective management of internal and external teams * Understands business and is transformation focussed * Experience of designing in one or more areas to such as LAN/WAN, data centre, Windows Server, Security solutions and Microsoft Azure technologies * A good understanding of both physical and virtual technologies and a good understanding of end to end application environments * Proven track record for delivery of large scale, complex projects delivering IT/Telco customer solutions; demonstrable leadership skills and organisational experience * High standard of stakeholder management, written & verbal communication skills * lead the design and development of complex application services, selecting necessary architectures, standards, platforms and technologies to meet project requirements and user needs * align architectural and development principles (Test, DevOps, Security, Service Management) * support technical governance and assurance processes, working with the Global IT organisation * provide technical leadership and consultancy to internal teams, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose, whilst meeting time and budget constraints * support service management teams in incident management, triage and defect resolution activities * build and maintain technology roadmaps, looking ahead for future opportunities * encourage communication and collaborative behaviours across multiple teams to identify strategic and tactical requirements and dependencies * enable a positive technical culture, applying both agile and waterfall methods where appropriate * Maintain relationships with external suppliers * Help to create reusable patterns, tools, and components across the Global IT organisation
