Tax Business Partner, London, Starting salary 55,860 per annum plus excellent benefits Closing date: Sunday 5th July The Opportunity EDF, one of the country's largest energy companies and the largest producer of low-carbon electricity, is looking for an experienced, qualified accountant to join their Tax Team as a TaxBusiness Partner. The Tax Team is responsible for ensuring that EDF complies with all tax legislation, that the group meets all tax reporting requirements both externally and internally, and ensures that group's tax affairs are conducted in an efficient manner. HPC is a 3260MW Pressurised Water Reactor currently under construction at Hinkley Point in Somerset and is Europe's largest construction project and is at the forefront of the nuclear renaissance in the UK. The current forecast outturn cost of HPC is circa 23bn. The scale, the public profile, and the potential availability of up to 5bn worth of tax relief on construction costs means that HMRC are focussing a large amount of resource on auditing HPC. Day to Day: * You will be essential in ensuring that EDF meets its tax obligations in relation to HPC and is able to maximise the value to the project and its shareholders arising out of the tax relief. * You will be an integral part of the process of negotiating and agreeing capital allowance claims with HMRC. * You will analyse and deliver high quality financial information and commentary in relation to the construction progress at HPC. * You will incrementally improve the accounting for the tax risk provisioning for HPC. * You will develop and improve processes for capturing HPC CAPEX data and analyse it for tax purposes. The Person You will be a proactive, self-starter with strong commercial awareness and experience of working within a finance department within a large corporate organisation. * Collaboration & flexibility: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and work flexibly across the organisation, whilst ensuring deadlines are achieved. * Communication: Excellent communication and presenting skills as well as an inquisitive mind-set. * Proactive: A "can-do" approach, ability and willingness to quickly grasp and tackle new projects. * Innovative: Ability to think outside the box with a continuous improvement mind-set. * Passionate: A strong passion for numbers, data and analytics. * Organisation: Ability to deal with conflicting priorities, co-ordinating accordingly. The Skills As a Tax Business Partner, you will lead the interaction between the Tax team and HPC, ensuring financial information is communicated effectively at a variety of levels with a sound understanding of Corporation Tax. You will need to: * Be a qualified financial accountant with a recognised Professional Organisation (e.g. ICAEW, ICAS, or other internationally recognised equivalent) and relevant post-qualification experience. * Have a proven ability to build effective relationships across the business with strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at a variety of levels. * Have excellent problem solving skills using both logic and intuition to derive solutions. * Have drive and commitment towards achieving targets with good attention to detail and the ability to monitor own performance against expected results/outcomes. * Have sound judgement, a challenging mind set with the ability to make informed decisions. * Have a good team work ethic as you'll be part of a strong, collaborative team who encourage new ideas and support each other when under pressure.
