Job Description
Team: Rail Grinding Delivery Location: Field Reports to: Fleet Manager & Operations Manager Deputises for: Fitter Operator (as required) Role Deputy: Other Machine Operators Safety Designation: Safety Critical Purpose of the role To ensure that the proper elements and commitments are in place to provide consistent quality outputs and monitoring from the plain line grinding service. Present a clear, concise and measurable description of pre and post track treatment. Key Accountabilities A minimum of 5% checks per machine per period COSS qualification or be working towards qualification Look out qualification or be working towards qualification To work safely and effectively to Colas Rail Services Operational procedures. Must visit and risk assess stabling point location 6 weeks before we are due to stable there Be able to produce Safety Work Packs (SWP) Assist in maintaining quality systems, machine safety packs and stabling database by continually monitoring, reviewing and making recommendations for updating as required Undertake any other duties if assessed as competent to do so such as fitting or operating SHEQ Responsibilities Work to applicable Safety Plans and Method Statements. Comply with Section 7 of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 Competencies Required Recognised formal apprenticeship in Mechanical / Electrical engineering To have achieved the core competencies of Foundation Course, , Machine Setup and Packaway for Operation Grinding Railgrinding maintainer for Operations /Maintenance competence matrix.
