About The Opportunity: We now have an opportunity for a pro-active and motivated Software Developer to join our team in Stafford and develop software which adheres to our Programming Standards and provide technical support across the business. Carrying out business analysis, you will produce a document of change and develop software based on the business requirements. You will be required to Unit Test and Function Test in accordance with internal standards ensuring that any errors are rectified. You will maintain a working knowledge of approved third party software and hardware and will perform any other duties as required by the Software Development Manager. We offer flexible working on a rota basis to cover core hours of 37.5 per week. The main skills and experience we are looking for: * Minimum of 5 GCSE's (to include English and Maths) * The successful candidate will ideally hold a relevant IT related degree or professional qualification * It is essential for you to have experience of programming in Cobol as well as knowledge of SQL and UNIX and you will have ideally come from a distribution / wholesale industry - although this is not essential * We are looking for an analytical thinker with excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) * Capacity to learn and develop your skills within this varied and interesting position You must be flexible to work in different locations as and when required therefore you must hold a full driving licence and have your own transport.
