Job Description

Furloughed? Laid off? Redundancy? COVID-19 scuppered your plans, progression and...well you're entire 2020 so far?? Remember those days we would like and share meme's about how you would love to be in a secluded log cabin for 6 months with no WI-FI and no mobile?! Not quite as quaint and blissful as you thought it was right?!?! You've been home now for 3 months, the house looks like something from DIY SOS, the dog has learned a dozen new tricks, you're grandparents have never spoken to you as much in the last 10 years as they have in they have in the last 10 weeks. So, what's left to do?? You could wait for the perfect opportunity to come on your favourite job board. You could keep harassing that Consultant that placed you once, who has forgotten your name and even where they placed you. You could decide to transform your career, venture into something new where your passion lies like baking cakes or fitness, maybe even selling plant based super juice extracted from the rarest Avocado fountain from the caves of Petra.... The more sensible option however is to join this FTSE listed business for a 6 month Fixed Term Contract as a Management Accountant. Yes, ok, it's not quite the business partnering, finance ninja job you had 3 months ago but you do get to have conversations with actual humans. Will you be heavily involved in month end...100%! It's a Management Accountant job, they may as well change the job to Month End Accountant. You do get to engage your brain again though, you know, utilise that CIMA course you have completed, or are on the verge of completing. You get to use MS Excel again too, remember how satisfying it felt putting those beautiful spreadsheets together, those numbers would be winking at you from inside those pivot tables. How satisfied were you when you got an accurate trial balance at the first time of asking? Getting goosebumps just thinking about using SAP again aren't you?? It's a £35k salary, you'll be working for at least 6 months, which is a damn sight more inviting than repeating the last 3 months again isn't it?!? You never know, you might actually remember how to interact with other Accountants again, maybe even make a friend or two... 3 months of Netflix or 6 months of Accounting? I know, it's not even close is it!!
