Job Description
IT Commissioning Lead Would you like to lead the installation of the Shared Infrastructure system on board all T26 ships for the Royal Navy? We currently have a vacancy for an IT Commissioning Lead at our site in New Malden. As an IT commissioning Lead you will oversee the full process lifecycle from the initial stages into the finished ships in service. You will understand the process for installing and commissioning these systems on board combat ships. This role will provide you with the opportunity to be involved from design into service whilst being on board the T26 Class of ships. You will shape the way we approach the task and come up with innovative processes and implement change. Your main responsibilities as an IT Commissioning Lead will involve: Putting together commissioning aspects, in a documented process, in agreement with various SMEs and Customer community. Devising and owning the plan of work to be undertaken, making sure the dependencies are in place and the work is progressing to plan. Act as the point of contact per platform during the install and commissioning phase. Work with the customer to make sure that buy-in is achieved for the programme and suitable progress reporting mechanisms are in place and working. Be on board ship for certain periods to oversee work and make sure it is progressing as planned. Consider the resource loading required for the work is understood along with the required skillsets. Your skills and qualifications: ESSENTIAL: Ability to write process documentation and plans COTS hardware experience and familiarity, plus specific knowledge of Naval System hardware is an advantage Ability to liaise with and direct individuals across a number of domains Engineering background - within similar industry e.g. defence, aviation, rail.
