Job Description

IHS Markit is seeking an Analyst to join our Country Risk Middle East and North Africa team in London. The Analyst will assess political, security and business risks across the MENA region, with emphasis on Libya, the Maghreb, Yemen and/or Iran, helping clients around the world make business decisions with succinct written briefings, in-person presentations, and ongoing, in-depth research. The position is based in London. Our team assesses violent and political risks across the MENA region for business and government clients, and forecasts how these are likely to evolve in the future. The Analyst will help our clients understand the changing political and security environment and will collaborate with other IHS Markit colleagues inside and outside Country Risk, providing insights that inform our wider output, for example in economic forecasting, the energy industry and war risk scenarios. Roles and Responsibilities: * Assessing and monitoring tightly defined country risks in the MENA region, with a focus on Libya, the Maghreb, Yemen and/or Iran, producing regular written and verbal deliverables, including same-day analyses, country report updates, quick turnaround responses to specific client queries, and longer client-tailored consultancy work. The Analyst may also have the opportunity to produce analysis on other countries as needed * Succinctly and clearly communicating forecasts and assessments to current and prospective clients, and internal colleagues through briefings, webinars and other in-person settings * Collaborating to produce commercially relevant, forward-looking assessments with London-based colleagues, external contributors and IHS Markit specialists in other business lines including Economics and Energy * Collaborating with our Sales and Marketing teams * Using our extensive proprietary data sets, including intelligence streams, risk mapping, social media metrics, and economic and financial projections, to strengthen our products and help develop new commercial offerings * Developing and maintaining relationships with an extensive source and contributor network Required skills: * Excellent writing and speaking skills in English; reading and listening proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Arabic, Farsi, French * Deep understanding of the political and business environment, ideally by living in-region or having relevant regional studies * Highly effective organizational and prioritization skills, including the ability to stay on task and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment, while giving high attention to detail * Ability to work on multiple projects to deadline and with variable demands from clients and internal stakeholders in a collaborative manner * Strong presentation skills. * Applicant must be legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom Desirable: * A background in economics, energy or security/military Experience: * An advanced degree in a subject that demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the MENA region, and the social, economic, political or cultural factors that are likely to drive risk there * Relevant experience in country risk, business intelligence, or related industry ----- IHS Markit is committed to providing equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all persons regardless of age, color, national origin, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, race, religion, creed, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, genetic information, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by the laws and regulations in any of our locations.
