If successful you will also initially be working remotely in line with guidance from Scottish Government*** Location: Glasgow Part time: 3 Session post The Associate Adviser for Patient Safety and Quality Improvement will have a significant role in contributing to NES' objectives of working with local territorial health boards and special health boards to provide education in quality improvement and patient safety for primary care. The post holder will undertake collaborative work to develop, deliver and evaluate patient safety tools and quality improvement methods that support GPs and associated health and care professionals. The post holder will deliver training on these topics to key groups for the purposes of GP postgraduate vocational training, appraisal, revalidation, General Practice contract delivery and to support colleagues working with doctors in difficulty. This post is a 3 session post and will be based within the NES West of Scotland region in Glasgow. You should be medically qualified with a background in Primary Care. You will have understanding of, and experience in, quality improvement and patient safety methods as well as a thorough understanding of GP postgraduate vocational training, the Scottish Patient Safety Programme for Primary care, GP appraisal and the implementation of the new GMS contract. Reporting to the Assistant Director of General Practice Education (Quality Improvement and Patient Safety) you should have excellent communication and organisational skills. The West of Scotland region of the NES deanery is committed to providing high quality medical education for the workforce in keeping with the NHS Education corporate plan. The Associate Adviser will work within the Professional Development work-stream within NES - one of four national core work-streams within the organisation. This is a multi-professional grouping that is supported by a general management structure with administrative support. The post is permanent, subject to annual review.
