Associate Scientist III - Next Generation Sequencing Your role: we have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Scientist / Molecular Biologist within our Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) group, based at our Glasgow UK facility. Your activities will support our commercial NGS service offerings in the field of biosafety testing. Your primary responsibility will be to execute commercial NGS assays in support of client requests and to assist and provide support across the day to day operation of the facility. You will liaise closely with laboratory management and support staff, including other members of the NGS laboratory and bioinformatics teams, to ensure internal and external expectations are met or exceeded. You will be responsible for ensuring the timely initiation and completion of relevant studies and that testing is performed in accordance with all governing SOPs and regulations (cGMP and GLP). You will have the natural ability to lead by example and work collaboratively, to support current activities and bring the next level of NGS service offerings to life. Who You Are: * You have an HND or higher in the scientific discipline of molecular biology, with proven competent working / hands on experience (post degree) as a molecular biologist or related scientific discipline, with appropriate instrumentation and techniques proficiency. Alternatively, candidates with demonstrable extensive laboratory experience will be considered. * Experience with NGS wet lab workflows is preferred but not required. * You have relevant working knowledge and experience executing and troubleshooting technical projects in the areas of molecular biology and / or commercialisation. Experience in a commercial setting is a plus. * You are skilled in applicable computer programs including Microsoft applications, as well as having excellent oral and written communication skills and strong time management. * You are a forward thinker with creative and innovative ideas that you are willing to share. * You are highly collaborative but can also work independently and demonstrate a high level of initiative and confidence.
