Job Description

Engineering Apprentice Summary of Role: The role will allow the successful candidate to engage in studying towards a BEng (Hons) Degree in Engineering: Design and Manufacture on Heriot Watt's Graduate Apprentice Scheme. The candidate will spend one day per week attending University and four days per week in Raytheon training to be a Design Engineer. When not at University, the student will be given on the job training within our company. You will be assigned to a project team to work on live projects and contribute through supporting the team. The hands-on work experience accompanied with a strong technical education will provide the individual with the necessary skills to fulfil the role as a Design Engineer. Main Duties Assist engineers with the designing, building and testing of electronic systems Support the project teams in various ways Build and test proto-types with guidance from the design engineers Procurement and co-ordination of materials and proto-types Miscellaneous tasks including lab related activities Candidate Requirements: Essential: 4 Higher Grades including Mathematics plus one other Science (minimum Grade 'B') Great interest for design engineering Possesses a strong willingness to learn Good communication skills + Attention to detail + Ability to multi-task + IT literate -excel, word, internet Desirable: + Previous work experience in any role + Good time management, prioritisation and organisational skills + Keen to continue learning beyond Apprentice role + Interest/hobby in a STEM field About Raytheon UK With facilities in Broughton, Waddington, Glenrothes, Harlow, Gloucester, Manchester with presence across other customer sites also.
