BARTS HEALTH NHS TRUST Cardiovascular Clinical Academic Group Junior Clinical Fellows (ST 1/2 level) in Critical Care X 8 Posts We are recruiting for Junior Clinical Fellows (CT1-2 equivalent) in Critical Care. The successful candidates will gain experience in both cardiac and general intensive care working across our three critical care units and surgical high dependency units. A minimum of 2 years post graduate clinical experience is essential (foundation training or equivalent). This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the UK's premier cardiac centre - Barts Heart Centre (BHC). The Barts Heart Centre was created in 2015 by the merger of services and staff from the London Chest Hospital, UCLH's The Heart Hospital, and those already in existence at St Bartholomew's. It is the largest specialist cardiovascular centre in the country, bringing together a wide range of expertise in clinical care, research and education for cardiovascular conditions. Barts Heart Centre has state-of-the-art facilities: 10 operating theatres, 10 catheter labs (including 2 hybrid rooms), 255 general cardiac beds and 98 higher acuity care beds including 58 Level 3 critical care beds. The centre has one of the busiest surgical programmes in Europe and performs more HAC PCIs and cardiac MRI and CT scans than any other centre in the world. It is Europe's largest specialised cardiovascular centre, covering a population of three million people across north and east London, west Essex and beyond. It has also created the world's biggest centre of excellence for adults with congenital heart disease. The Thorax Centre provides multi-disciplinary care for patients with lung disease. The expansion of the critical care beds within Barts Heart Centre and St Bartholomew's Hospital has brought to fruition the clinical case for change that was supported by the commissioners in October 2014. This has realised the strategic aims to support the cardiac network, complex intervention at Barts and our ambitions for a destination VAD therapy programme and enhancement of our complex aortic vascular surgical service. The Barts Heart Centre is also, crucially, part of a wider network of cardiovascular provision delivered by Barts Health, including services at Newham, The Royal London, Whipps Cross, and University College London Hospital. The specialist Barts Heart Centre works with these and other hospitals in the area to provide a comprehensive network of care for patients, and ensure that the majority of care is provided as close to home as possible. In the recent CQC inspection St Bartholomew's was rated as Good across the board with Critical Care receiving outstanding within the Well Led domains.
