Job Description
We are looking an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse (Adult) to join our busy and friendly team at Tunbridge Wells Hospital. You must have exceptional standards and consistently deliver the highest quality patient-focused care. The Radiology Nurses provide nursing care and support for patients undergoing various diagnostic and interventional procedures. The duties of the post include the preparation of equipment and patients prior to procedures and the provision of nursing care peri and post procedure. Rotation through the diagnostic Imaging specialities, i.e. Ultrasound, CT, Fluoroscopy, Breast Care Unit and Nuclear Medicine will be part of the role. Skills required include I.V. cannulation, accessing CVAD's and good organisational skills. The post holder must have or plan to undertake "Immediate Life Support" training. The role within the department will encompass all aspects of the patient's care and you will therefore, need good communication, people and IT skills. You will also be required to help with the running of lists by liaising with Bed Managers, Wards and Porters as necessary. A flexible approach to working pattern will be needed. The working hours will usually be worked Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00. The actual days and times worked may vary from week to week and may include half days. As part of the role, you will need to wear radiation protection clothing for part of your working week. The Tunbridge Wells Hospital is located in Pembury adjacent to the A21 and approximately 15 minutes' walk from High Brooms Station which is on the Hastings line from London. The new hospital opened in January 2011, and has 512 beds. It is the first NHS hospital where all main wards are comprised entirely of single ensuite bedrooms. As well as the main A&E department for the area, it provides women's health and paediatric services, Trauma and Orthopaedics, and acute surgery as well as acute medicine including neurology. It currently also has a hyper acute stroke unit (HASU), ITU and a coronary care unit (CCU). The Trust is located in one of the most pleasant parts of Kent. Maidstone is the County Town of Kent and Tunbridge Wells is a Regency spa town, both with excellent shopping and facilities. The hospitals are set on the outskirts of the towns, adjacent to Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a short drive from sandy beaches. There are many visitor attractions including pretty villages, historic castles, gardens and children's attractions, and we are close to the Channel Tunnel and ports.
