Then we have opportunities within the dietetic team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) for newly qualified HCPC registered dietitians to join our well established Band 5 rotational programme. This position offers an ideal opportunity to consolidate clinical dietetic skills, work within established multi-professional teams, and gain experience in a challenging and diverse range of work. This rotational post provides a great grounding in dietetics and opportunities to work in a variety of clinical areas. These vacancies have arisen because our Band 5 dietitians have gained promotion within our department in both adult, paediatric and community areas. ABOUT THE TEAM UHS is a leading teaching hospital, hosting a wide range of specialist tertiary services and a nutrition biomedical research centre. The department of dietetics and speech and language therapy employs approximately 100 staff, with clinical experts working across the range of specialties, providing both acute and community services. You will be working in the acute adult dietetic team at Southampton General Hospital and the community dietetic team based at The Royal South Hants hospital. You will be working closely with senior colleagues supporting specialist services, staff training and resource development. Through completion of our band 5 development programme you will have an opportunity to work alongside many specialists and gain knowledge in a variety of acute and community areas. All band 5s have regular supervision with senior colleagues and we have recently developed a preceptorship model. These are busy, hardworking teams known for their friendliness, support and development opportunities. There are regular internal CPD sessions including designated Band 5 CPD sessions. As a large teaching hospital Southampton covers far reaching areas and deals with complex cases which offer the opportunity to learn more specialist nutritional interventions. Our service operates during core hours, Monday to Friday. We occasionally attend group education sessions and events in evenings and weekends which you will be asked to support with prior notice. WHAT YOU'LL DO The successful applicants will join one of our seven rotations, covering medicine, surgery, stroke, trauma and orthopaedics / cardiothoracic, community hospitals and prescribing support. Each rotation is for 6 months and is designed in a specific order to give a broad range of experience and knowledge You will: * Manage a designated caseload in each rotation, supervised by a senior colleague * Deliver general outpatient clinics and group education sessions as required * Deliver projects, audits and training specific to each rotation * Be involved with student training for B and C placements from the University of Surrey , after a settling in period and following relevant training WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR We can give you the necessary skills and education to work in each clinical area. In return we require: * A proactive, enthusiastic dietitian who is willing to work hard and embrace every rotation * Someone who is happy to work independently but who also works well as part of a large dietetic and multidisciplinary team * A dietitian who is confident in communicating in a variety of settings and with people from all backgrounds * A dietitian who is willing to use their initiative but who is also able to seek advice and support whenever they require it * Car driver, with full driving licence, or ability to travel between hospital sites or for necessary patient visits WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU As one of the largest acute teaching Trust's in England, we can offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to.
