Job Description

To enable our staff to develop professionally and personally we are increasing the establishment of Registered Mental Health Nurses on all of our wards. We are doing this as here at Callington Road because we see our staff as our most important asset. The development of our staff is fundamental to improving quality and ensuring Service Users receive the highest level of care possible. Having extra nurses on the ward allows us to focus on those things that are important to nurses.That is their professional development through Supervision, Appraisal, and Training and working in a team that does not rely on bank or agency staff delivering high quality care consistently and thoughtfully. The site is committed to supporting its staff and have recently launched regular Networking days for each banding. This supports staff to meet others on neighboring wards but also a chance to feedback to senior managers on a regular basis. Based at Callington Road Hospital, Hazel Unit is a 12 bedded Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit providing care for patients during the most acute phase of their mental health problems. Serving the Bristol area we care for patients from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures. This is an opportunity to join a successful, effective multidisciplinary team that involves members at all levels in the clinical and managerial process. We currently have a vacancy for a Band 5 Staff Nurse, Full time 37.5 hours per week preferred. You will be primarily based on Hazel Unit, although you may be required to move from time to time to provide cover on our neighboring wards which include Lime Unit, male acute ward, Silver Birch, female acute ward and Elizabeth Casson House, Female PICU.
