The Disabilities Trust is hiring in Milton Keynes We're looking for a Part-Time Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly service, TEM House. We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals who will strive to deliver the best possible service for our service users. About Us Located in Milton Keynes, Thomas Edward Mitton (TEM) House is a specialist residential centre that provides continuing rehabilitation and specialist care and support for people with an acquired brain injury (ABI). Thomas Edward Mitton House works with people who have to cope with a range of cognitive, physical and/or emotional symptoms following a severe brain injury. Rehabilitation is based on a neurobehavioural approach and focuses on enabling service users to function more independently and to participate in as many of their previous roles and activities as possible, while developing their lives with privacy, dignity and respect About the role: As a Senior Speech and Language Therapist at TEM house your main purpose will be to work both as part of an inter-disciplinary team and as an autonomous professional in a specialist clinical setting. To provide speech and language therapy within the BIRT neurobehavioural model. To work therapeutically with people who have complex physical, mental and emotional health needs, and/or challenging behaviours. To liaise with internal and external professionals, family members and clients. To take on leadership roles within the team. Main duties will include: * To professionally lead, clinically supervise and support junior colleagues. * To work as an independent clinical professional within this specialist area * To manage and prioritise a caseload of service users with complex mental, physical and emotional health needs and/or challenging behaviour. * To use evidence-based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate intervention in conjunction with other members of the interdisciplinary team. * To work within a service user centred approach. * To contribute to the training, education and development of others when required including service users, families and the staff team. * To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the service, holding responsibility for defined projects. * To supervise other members of staff, e.g. Speech and language therapy assistants and rehabilitation support workers in carrying out the Speech and language therapy programmes. * To assess and monitor the service users need for rehabilitation equipment and the provision of this, e.g. aids and assisted technology. * To be able to work as sole speech and language therapist within the service if necessary. Education/Qualifications required: * Diploma or Degree in Speech and Language Therapy * Current HCPC Registration * Dysphagia qualification (foundation level) Skills/Experience required: * Evidence of continuing professional development * Experience of working in an interdisciplinary team * A minimum of 6 years post qualified work with a minimum of 3 years' experience of working in a neurological setting or ABI service * Experience of working within an in-patient / residential setting * Leadership, research and /or project management experience * IT skills including the ability to open and send emails using Outlook, the ability to use Microsoft office and the ability to navigate the internet * Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills * Ability to manage own time and prioritise workload * Ability to present information to wider groups. * Ability / willingness to travel nationwide to attend training / meetings / assessments. * Ability to build effective team relationships Hours Hours available: 21 Hours a week Benefits include: * Salary of 38,201-40,850 pro-rated * 33 days holiday including bank holidays (pro-rata) * Group Life assurance * Employer pension contribution * Eye voucher scheme * Long service and staff awards * Nationwide staff benefits such as Perk Box and discounted gym membership.
