We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Manager, to be responsible for all aspects of running the home, under the guidance of the Home Manager. Woodhayes is set in the delightful St Leonard's district of Exeter and has a character all of its own. It consists of two large Victorian listed houses which have been converted into a single home offering residential and nursing care for 24 people, and its aim is to enable older people to live independent, happy and fulfilling lives. This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN), with experience of working in a care home at a senior level. A confident communicator, you will deputise for the Home Manager and have the ability to motivate and provide personal development within your team. You will be a skilled clinician and effective leader, creating a nurturing environment for our residents and employees. You will have a commitment to quality and a solid working knowledge of the CQC Fundamental Standards , along with a good understanding of compliance and clinical governance. What will I be doing? Your key responsibilities will be to provide first class nursing assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation and associated care staff training, so that residents receive the high standard of care expected at all Brendoncare Care Homes. You will also provide line management support to RNs, managing performance and conducting timely 1-2-1 and PDR performance appraisal. Your day to day responsibility will be for the management, support, and allocation of duties to all nursing and care staff within the home which has up to 24 residents. What do I need to have to apply? * 3 years post qualification experience as an RGN/RMN and currently registered with NMC; * have a minimum of 1 years managerial experience of leading a care team in the care of older people, or related social care setting; * have evidence of continuing professional development; * have a working knowledge of the regulatory framework relating to Care Homes; * possess good communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written; * demonstrate the ability to lead, support and motivate a dedicated care team; * be able to take responsibility for the safeguarding of older people; * to be committed to the ongoing training and development of your team. Awareness of best dementia care practice is highly desirable for this role. This is a full time position, based on 36 hours of working per week, including some allocated management time. In return we offer an hourly rate of £21.50 and 6.6 weeks holiday including Bank Holidays, increasing to 7 weeks with five years service. In addition we provide training and continuing personal development, a free uniform, free initial DBS Check and free staff meals when on duty.
