We have an exciting opportunity for a Ward Manager to join our Oncology Outpatients Unit based at our Duchess of Devonshire Wing (Cancer Centre) in Central London (Close to Regents Park or Baker Street tube stations). Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest private hospitals, with state-of-the-art facilities located on Harley Street. We have circa 1200 employees, a total of 8 premises, and we are dedicated to providing the best, personalised healthcare with a breadth of surgical and medical expertise. The Duchess of Devonshire Wing is our award-winning cancer centre, which includes state-of-the-art radiotherapy, chemotherapy suites and dedicated patient bedrooms. Our Oncology & Haematology Outpatient unit comprises of 22 individual areas for outpatient treatment. It also has two fully enclosed private rooms for outpatients who require extra privacy during their treatment. Our patients attend for day case chemotherapy and related treatments and/or consultant appointments. We currently have 5 apheresis machines, where donors/ patients attend for peripheral blood stem cell donation. Job Description As a Ward Manager you will be responsible for the overall organisation and management of the oncology outpatient unit. Patient within the outpatient setting will be receiving cancer treatment for both haematology/oncology related malignancies as well as medical oncology. * Job Type: This is a full time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday. * Salary: The attractive salary for this role is 44,154 - 52,819 per annum, and will be dependent upon skills and experience. * Benefits package: We offer a comprehensive package which includes a contribution pension scheme (total annual contribution up to 20%), Private Medical Healthcare, 33 day's annual leave (Inclusive), plus much more. Duties & Responsibilities * Nursing responsibility for leading, developing, implementing and evaluating innovative and efficient models of care management for patients * You will be a recognised leader in Haematology/Oncology and provide professional leadership, which will support and inspire colleagues and enhance the development of clinical practice. * Work in conjunction with the clinical education team, providing clinical supervision and mentorship for staff. * Recruit and manage staff ensuring that nurse: patient ratios promote staff and patient safety. * Carry out assessment of patients, make critical judgements to inform clinical decision-making, make recommendations and prescription of treatment. * Support the running of the Acute Oncology Service and work closely with the inpatient teams including the Critical Care Unit Outreach team in identifying those patients at risk. * Lead the development of initiatives, strategies and services which support Clinical Governance within the Duchess of Devonshire Wing (Cancer Centre). Skills & Experience * Registered Nurse with valid NMC pin. * Post registration course within Oncology with a recognised teaching qualification. * Considerable post registration experience within Oncology nursing. * Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of leadership skill. * Experience of clinical audit as well as evidence of participation in research, critical appraisal and the application of research. * Self-confident individual who has excellent Collaborative and robust change/project management skills.
