Job Description

The Trust is seeking to appoint a Trust Fire Safety officer to join their estates team. This is a fantastic opportunity to help develop and to continuously improve, the fire safety and risk management of a major acute hospital. With a large amount of capital development planned, this is an exciting time to join the team and to provide expert professional guidance and support for these developments. You will be organising, implementing, co-ordinating and maintaining full and efficient fire prevention, and fire precautions across the Trust. You will be responsible for advising on all technical fire matters, carrying our fire risk assessments and delivering theoretical and practical training. You will join the Fire safety team aligned with 8 Estate Officers and be part of the wider Estates team. You will have significant experience of fire safety guidance or building fire safety, ideally gained in a health-care/local authority/buildings consultancy or defence environment. You will have a deep understanding of building and fire safety. You will have a minimum of a Level 3 building/engineering/fire safety qualification and be trained in healthcare specific fire safety.The successful applicant will have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and be able to deliver theoretical and practical training that is both engaging and memorable. There will also be a requirement to carry out audits and to provide practical advice on fire safety measures. The ability to develop fire strategies and produce fire/emergency procedures will also form part of the post holder's duties. Travel to other sites will be required therefore a valid UK driving licence plus the use of own transport for business purposes is essential.
