Job outline: As part of the Boeing Defence UK (BDUK), Aircraft Support (ACS), Warehouse and Distribution function, you will form part of a small team of warehouse personnel that is required to provide daily support for the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Chinook aircraft. Responsible to the Warehouse and Distribution Manager, you will carry out general warehouse duties and will be aware of, and follow, warehouse safety procedures. Day to Day responsibilities include: Issue, receipt and dispatch of goods to/from the warehouse. Check for damage or deficient items in a consignment. Loading and Unloading of consignments as required and deliver equipment to the customer. Pack and unpack equipment to DEFSTAN 81-41 standards. Put away equipment into pre-defined storage locations. Kitting of equipment required for modification tasks. Posting of transactions onto the Warehouse Management System (Warehouse on Web (WoW)). Operate the Reach and Counter-balance Fork Lift as required. Perform physical counts of the inventory and assist with the reconciliation of any discrepancies found. Maintain a record of auditable vouchers. Ensure all warehouse areas are clean and tidy at all times. Develop productive working relationships with colleagues. Effectively deal with any queries or correspondence. To assist in other warehouse duties as required by the Warehouse Manager or the Logistic Team Leader. Able to follow standard operating procedures and work in a methodical and tidy manner. Support the Warehouse Manager or Logistic Team Leader with the implementation of Company Policy and Procedure. To support and promote Continuous Improvement or Employee Involvement (EI) projects. Generate new and innovative ideas to enhance and improve the department. Achieve set targets and objectives. Key interfaces include: Liaison with other UK ACS supply chain functions (Strategic, Supplier Management and Procurement and Tactical Asset Managers) MoD for the receipt and delivery of aircraft spares Vector Aerospace for the receipt and delivery of aircraft spares Boeing engineering staff to assist with the management of repairable parts Supply Chain employees at dispersed locations Attend/host internal meetings as necessary Travel to external meetings with suppliers, customers as required. Job Skills: Must have experience of warehouse operations, ideally within the Aviation/Defence industry in a fast-paced warehouse environment Flexible, highly motivated with a pro-active approach to assigned duties. Used tomanual handling techniques to move equipment around the warehouse Be able to work within a team Possess a working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office applications (Word. Excel and PowerPoint) General knowledge of Health and Safety disciplines associated with warehouse operations Demonstrate sound communication skills to deal with all customers and colleagues A working knowledge of general Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) Perform on-call duties as required on a 24 hour 7 days a week rota basis (around 6 times per year on call) A valid fork lift licence (reach and counter-balance etc.), preferred but not essential as training can be provided to the right candidate A working knowledge of MJDI (Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory), would be advantageous but not essential.
