Datalex is seeking to hire a skilled and ambitious Graduate Software Engineer for our Manchester office. The successful applicant will gain commercial experience working on enterprise applications for global airlines such as Jet Blue, Aer Lingus and Air China. The Graduate Software Engineer will work as part of local and internal engineering teams to deliver world class ecommerce solutions. Based in our Manchester office; the Graduate Software Engineer will be mentored by with experienced Technical Team Leaders to ensure they receive the best possible training and guidance. The Role We are looking for a Software Engineer to work in an exciting and dynamic environment across the full stack. The successful applicant will have a recently qualified with a degree in software engineering. Responsibilities + Estimate, design, develop and test small to medium sized features to the highest standards. + Understand the business drivers behind each feature. + Ensure the highest levels of quality in development through test-driven development and continuous integration. + Contribute towards initiatives to improve the software development process. + Understand the impact of performance, stability and availability for mission-critical systems. Seeking the following Skills & Experience + 0-1 years? experience working as a Software Engineer + Exposure to one or more of the following tools an advantage ? Eclipse, IntelliJ, JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, Jenkins, Git and Gradle. + An understanding of one or more of the following technologies ? Java, J2EE, React, REST, JBoss, Tomcat, JDBC, SOAP & XML + Exposure to one or more of the following database systems ? Oracle, Postgres & MongoDB. + Theoretical understanding in unit testing and tools ? JUnit, Mockito, JMock, JMeter. + Theoretical knowledge of design patterns and software architectures. + Presentation and teamwork skills. + Understanding of both Waterfall and Agile methodologies a distinct advantage.
