We are Ruroc, based just off the M5 near Gloucester, and we are hiring an exceptional Product Director / Chief Product Officer! Ruroc exists to make helmets cool. We believe that re-engineering protection with the perfect balance of art and science will make people want to wear our helmets, making them safer and will mean they live longer (and cooler!). In 2019 we had our first 1m turnover day and in 2020 we had our first 1m turnover hour and were now in a fabulous position to build further growth! The goal of the Product Director is to ensure that Ruroc hits its 2022/23 mission of 100m annual revenue. The key to achieving this will be to build and develop a team of creative designers, engineers and product managers capable of delivering sustainable long-term growth through the introduction and on-time / on-budget delivery of innovative and unique products You will lead and manage all aspects of the product life cycle to ensure that Rurocs products are clearly differentiated from the wider market, but have a well-considered DFM process implemented to ensure that both tooling and unit costs match Rurocs key product metrics. Due to the forecast speed of growth for the Ruroc brand, the role will be a mixture of both hands-on designing / creating, as well as setting a vision that achieves the brands goals through effective organisation, hiring and delegation. Main Accountabilites * Design, and inspire the design of, products that keep Ruroc unequivocally differentiated from competitors * Maintain and evolve the design language of the Ruroc brand * Develop the in-house facilities for Rurocs product design/engineering team to increase speed to market, reduce cost and improve product safety * Manage the design team responsible for the creation of each products graphical / colour range for each year and for each Special Edition' drop * Deliver on on-time sampling, and monitor that the range is correctly designed with a full complement of colours (considering the latest fashion trends in each market) catering to the broadest possible audience * Lead the investigation into sustainable materials for the use in the production of Ruroc products to reduce the impact on the environment * Ensure that suppliers and manufacturers are correctly selected during the product development phase, to minimize the need for re-tooling and modifications * Lead on new product assembly trials on both prototypes and T1 samples to ensure product assembly is as time-efficient and well matched as possible * Lead new patent applications and develop IP to differentiate and protect the future of the Ruroc brand Requirements About you Ideally you will currently be leading the Product function in a hard goods industry, with a real cutting-edge design led focus. You will have a strong product sourcing, production and design background and will also have experience of moulding and certification where safety plays a hugely important part of the Product Design focus. You will be an experienced leader who is able to build and motivate a highly effective Product team, as well as interface with all senior stakeholders across the Brand, Marketing and Trading teams to ensure a collaborative and joined up approach to achieving the company wide mission.
