Job Description
Role: UX Designer Location: Manchester - Media City Contract : Permanent Hours: 37.5 hrs per week Due to a continued period of business growth Gamma currently has an exciting opportunity for a UX designer to join our Development & Engineering function, as part of Business Process Engineering (BPE) team. The role will be responsible for creating outstanding customer & user experiences and world-class UI based on solid customer/user research and analytics. We are keen to build an experienced centered design approach across our teams and as such we are looking for a candidate who actively enjoys knowledge sharing and mentoring in the UX/UI space. The fundamental responsibility of the BPE function is to analyse, and optimise Gamma's business processes, portals and other interfaces, identify new technology opportunities in workflow, and deliver change and improvement in line with an overall digital strategy and the planned development of products and services. The UX designer will play a key role in developing intuitive interfaces, with a clear objective to reduce customer effort and associated support costs and to create defined and controlled User Experiences across the Gamma product portfolio. This role is key in the implementation of our strategic goals, and will be engaged in the delivery of a number of initiatives directly underpinning the business strategy. Key capabilities/skills of the role: * UX research * User & competitor research: setup, plan, perform, analyse, present * Responsible for summarising and presenting user research findings to key senior stakeholders. Seeking agreement and buy in for design decisions * Relay research finding to project squad - embed a culture of VOC led experience centred design into the squad. Be the voice of user experience in mixed discipline teams of software development, Business Analysts, Product Managers, Engineers etc. * UX Design * Translate business requirements into functional products * Creation of wireframes, storyboards/journey mapping, user flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas * Creation of high-fidelity production-ready UI designs * UX testing / Design Ideation * Drive a development culture of iteration through customer / user feedback & metrics * Analytics * Embed a culture of data driven decision making * Define and implement success metrics/goals for our customer journeys and MVP deployments * Work with our Insight team to build and deploy a dashboard of key business and product metrics to identify and prioritise improvement opportunities * To provide expertise and guidance on what is the art of the possible in the field, providing insight on market leading best practice and competitor analysis to drive a clear competitive advantage for Gamma's digital customer experience. Provide market insight on current digital technologies and user experiences. * Be a clear centre of expertise for UX * Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders - this will also involve workshop facilitation to draw out requirements and seek an agreed approach * Coach and mentor less experienced members of the team to develop their skills in UX Personal Characteristics and Experience: * Good experience and competency across a wide range of design tools, design software, techniques, UX methodologies and processes - and know when to use them. You have broad experience across the full design spectrum but deep specialist knowledge of UX design and always ensure the highest quality output, rooted in a deep understanding of your audience * Experience of working in an Agile environment with multi-disciplinary teams * Demonstrable knowledge and passion for user-centered design practices * Able to articulate your thinking * Passionate about learning and sharing knowledge * Hold strong communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels * Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, working across multiple projects simultaneously * Determination to reach an end goal and work through challenges * Dynamic and achievement orientated * Flexibility of approach * Team player - collaborative * Experience of working in an Agile team * Up to date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies About Gamma Gamma is a leading supplier of voice, data and mobile products and services in the UK.
