The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK's leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire. Our flagship specialist cancer hospital opening in central Liverpool in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site. Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside's district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies. We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service; are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and host the region's Teenage and Young Adult Unit, (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust). Working with leading experts from The University of Liverpool and the Cancer Research UK Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit we strive to stay at the forefront of novel treatments and techniques to deliver more effective and personalised treatments than ever before. An opportunity has arisen for a Full time permanent band 4 cancer support worker to join the head and neck nursing team who work within the Integrated Care Directorate at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust. You will be required to work at both the Wirral and Liverpool sites. The Cancer Support Worker - Care Coordinator is a non-clinical support role which supports the operational delivery of clinical services by taking an active role in helping patients with the management of the care and social needs, working closely with the clinical nurse specialists, advanced nurse practitioners, allied health professionals and oncologists within the designated tumour site/s, as a key member of the multi-professional team. You should possess excellent communication skills, be highly motivated and have experience with cancer care in order to support patients to navigate the complex health and social care system during and following completion of cancer treatment The post holder will provide advice and support to patients and their carers's and help to shape the future of the cancer services at the centre and plan for the developments of Transforming Cancer Care for our patients in the Cheshire and Merseyside area We're here to deliver the best cancer care to the people we serve and we're looking for applications from those who share that commitment and our values: Putting people first; Achieving excellence; Passionate about what we do; Always improving our care; and Looking to the future.
