Maternity Cover opportunity to start mid July 2020 The Role The Financial Accountant has accounting and controllership responsibility for significant elements of the balance sheet of statutory entities within the Great Britain geography including balance sheet reviews, oversight of critical payroll accounting processes including balance sheet reconciliations, FX exposure review, intercompany analysis, mismatch review and reconciliation; and VAT accounting, settlement and reconciliation. Ideally fully qualified or equivalent with established experience gained within a global organisation, this role will suit candidates who are able to work autonomously in a varied role joining a collaborative team environment. Key Accountabilities: * Working with other members of the controllership team, service providers, finance business partners and payroll managers to ensure the books of various GB companies are closed in an accurate and timely manner * Review and approve journals for accuracy and compliance with company policies, questioning where appropriate * Performing, approving and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations * Performing balance sheet reviews for two of the main trading entities and taking appropriate follow up actions * Work closely with the payroll team to ensure all monthly payroll and benefits entries are made and that all balances are reconciled. This includes intercompany transactions * Assist in the preparation and audits of statutory accounts for various UK companies * Prepare and account for quarterly VAT returns and balances * Assist other members of the team to problem solve and implement new policies and procedures * Ad hoc project work as required The Requirements: * Established experience working in a corporate Finance team, ideally within a global organisation * Holds a recognised accounting qualification or equivalent * High level of understanding of financial accounting and a controllership function * Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet reporting deadlines * Ability to work on own initiative and within a regional and global team. * Flexible and adaptable to change, with a proactive and positive approach to work. * Willingness to support senior members of the team and assist in both day to day tasks and project work. * Experienced Excel user Desirable but not essential * Experience of working with Oracle * Experience/Knowledge of payroll accounting including pension and other employee benefits Equal Opportunity Employer
