Summary About the position: This is a flexible (intermittent) category position (0-40 hours per week) located at the Arts & Crafts Center at RAF Alconbury, United Kingdom. May work an uncommon work schedule, including weekends. Requires continuous standing, walking, and stooping. Subject to metal/wood splinters, adhesives, paint fumes, cuts, burns, and bruises. Responsibilities Operates a variety of equipment in assigned area, to include computerized engravers, copiers, lettering machines, heat presses, air brushes, pouring tables, kilns, mat cutters, choppers and hand power tools. Responsible for operating the cash register, collects money, makes change and issues receipts. At the end of each shift, closes out the cash register, completes required paperwork and submits entire package to supervisor. Provides customer service, answers telephone and assists shop users with craft skill development and work procedures. With guidance from the supervisor, provides demonstrations and guidance on crafts. Maintains clean, neat and safe work area. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience with various artistic activities, such as ceramic molding and painting, painting with other media, fabric crafts, calligraphy and or lettering machines, engraving, glass crafts, and mat cutting. Must be able to read, write, spell and figure basic math and measurements. Must have a clear speaking voice and be able able to deal with the public. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit. Probationary period may be required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from hiring preferences and priority consideration eligible.
