The primary purpose of this position is to to plan, implement, and carry out a large, enhanced dependent youth sports and fitness program for youth ages 5-18 in the Lakenheath/Mildenhall Military Community. Since the position is identified as having ?regular contact with children?, in accordance with public law, a criminal background check must be completed * This position is involved with child and youth services and is subject to background checks in accordance with Public Law (PL) 101-647 * Must complete all mandatory training IAW AFI 34-804, AF Youth Sports Programs and 34-249, AF Youth Programs * Must be able to operate motor vehicles (under license) up to and including 29 passenger and 1 ton vehicles in accordance with AFI 34-801 * Must possess, or obtain within 6 months of hire, a valid first aid certification and CPR certification to include adults, child and infant procedures * Position requires some physical exertion such as long hours of standing, walking over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces, recurring bending, and crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities * May require physical dexterity and ability, heavy physical exertion and exposure to hazardous materials. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing 45 pounds and over. A physical may be required * This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use * Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs ### Qualifications OPM Qualification Standards: Recreation Specialist Series, 0188 and Group Coverage Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing work that includes applying program policies and procedures to recreation projects or programs for a large dependent youth sport and fitness program; organizing and utilizing available resources within the program framework; planning and conducting an enhanced variety instructional curriculum; preparing budgets, program evaluations, and facility administration; managing financial and physical resources. **OR EDUCATION: Applicants must have one (1) full year of graduate level education in general recreation or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.) or physical education or** superior academic achievement (must provide copy of transcripts at time of application). **OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:** Applicants must have a combination of qualifying specialized experience and education that when combined total at least 100 percent (must provide official transcripts at time of application). FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
