Role: Head of UK Strategy Location: Harlow Req ID: 160601BR Primary Purpose: To drive the development and delivery of a Business Strategy for Raytheon UK, and its individual business units based on robust market, customer and competitor knowledge, that enables the business to deliver profitable growth to the company and shareholders. Principal Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Reporting to the Raytheon UK Strategy & Business Development Director, this post has the following responsibilities: - Creation and development of a coherent Raytheon UK vision and strategy for growth. - Leadership and co-ordination of Raytheon UK's input to the annual Raytheon UK's corporate strategic review process - Coordination via the relevant functions and Heads of BD of the enabling strategies (eg resources and infrastructure) required to deliver the overall strategy - Acquisition and analysis of market intelligence to support in depth understanding of our markets including trends, potential opportunities and threats - Interface with the Raytheon UK Leadership Team to analyse the business' 5 Year Plan financials to ensure it reflects our strategy and investment requirements to deliver growth - Interfacing with US business units to ensure that they are aligned with UK business strategy and vice versa - Representation of the company, as required, at external meetings with partners, and key stakeholders such as defence, aerospace and security think tanks, government departments and trade associations - Advice, analysis and independent review for the Raytheon UK Leadership Team as and when required to lead on Strategic matters for the company - Support to and coordination with the Raytheon UK Head of Strategic Development on the identification and evaluation of targets for acquisition to deliver non-organic growth, fill capability gaps and gain competitive advantage - Line management of the strategy team Education and Experience Summary Essential - In depth knowledge of the UK defence, security and aerospace sectors - Understanding of UK and global defence, security and aerospace market drivers - Experienced in development of growth strategy, including M&A, for large corporations, preferably in liaison with a large off-shore parent at a senior level - Demonstrable ability to coordinate/ align company growth strategy with technical strategy and financial plans - Proven track record of ability to communicate complex ideas successfully to senior managers up to and including Board Level - Experience of creating and managing market and competitive intelligence in the defence and/or security sectors - Proven ability to lead, track and measure delivery of business strategies, including M&A - In depth understanding of UK government industrial policy development mechanisms for defence, aerospace and security - Must be willing and eligible to obtain UK MoD SC security clearance Desirable - Previous involvement in successful M&A projects - Demonstrable implementation of strategic external partnerships - Degree in relevant discipline, preferably with Post-Grad qualification Personal Characteristics - Entrepreneurial, creative, visionary thinker with the ability to establish a common vision and goals - Ability to see the 'big picture' whilst willing to work the detail - Enthusiastic leader with strong motivational skills, energy and drive - Outstanding communication skills - Outstanding inter-personal skills to unify disparate parties behind a common goal About Raytheon: Raytheon UK is a subsidiary of Raytheon Company.
