2x (Trainee) Advanced Practitioners in Pre-hospital Critical Care Full Time - Shift Working AfC Band 7 The Scottish Ambulance Service is the frontline of the NHS in Scotland, responding to over 600,000 emergency calls a year with 450 vehicles, we provide an emergency Ambulance Service to a population of over 5 million people, across the mainland and island communities. The role of Advanced Practitioner is an exciting new development within the Scottish Ambulance Service and will provide an excellent opportunity for career development within a clinical role. The evolution of the Scottish Trauma Network (STN) has provided the platform to develop the role of the Advanced Practitioner Pre-hospital Critical Care, not just for badly injured patients, but also the entire spectrum of critical care and cardiac arrest. Operating at this level, the clinician will possess a wide-ranging breadth of knowledge and understanding in addition to evidence of critical thinking, patient assessment and clinical care. Delivery of this advanced level of care will be supported by a scope of practice beyond what is currently required for registration with the HCPC as a Paramedic or registration with the NMC as a Nurse. The AP will also be expected to contribute to service wide audit, research, training and education. Applicants will be a Health and Care Professions Council registered Paramedic or Nursing and Midwifery Council registered Nurse. You will have a minimum of a BSc in a relevant field or equivalent clinical academic qualifications or experience. You will have a significant and demonstrable level of clinical practice within emergency / critical care. Successful applicants will undertake a fully funded Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice over 2 years, potentially including non-medical prescribing. To be accepted on the PGCert programme you must have a minimum of one of the following: * BSc / BA Honours Degree OR * An unclassified degree plus submission of a supporting statement from your line manager and an academic sponsor who support you studying your entry to post-graduate study * Be a registered Paramedic and able to demonstrate learning and experience within the context of your professional role which aligns with the outcomes of honours level study (Quality Assurance Agency, 2001), this will be evidenced through your reflective learning statement. Shortlisted applicants will undertake an assessment centre. Full details of which will be provided before the day. As this is a training role you will be paid in accordance with AfC Annex 21, with the year one at 70% of top of band 7 and year two at 75% of top of band 7.
